Skiing in Niseko

Niseko is synonymous with dry powder and offers some of the most spectacular skiing on the planet. The extensive lift system is fast, comfortable and uncrowded and includes about 30 covered chair lifts, gondolas and twins . The snow quality is remarkably light and dry. Daily grooming, consistent snow and low temperatures all helps to create an awesome experience.

Niseko is comprised of 3 interlinked first-class ski resorts; Annupuri, Grand Hirafu (includes Hanazono) and Higashiyama.

* Spectacular skiing and snowboarding
* Suitable for beginner, intermediate or outright "Powder Hounds"
* 38 lifts including 2 Express Gondolas
* Annual snowfall averages 15 Meters of pure dry powder

Off Piste

Niseko's dry powder is unrivalled and definitely the best in the world. Endless kilometres of off-piste countryside to explore - in fact there's about 30 square kilometers of back country. A word of warning - There are no rescue services off-piste --- skiers venture there at their own risk and in case of injury, evacuation is very expensive.

Three in One

Niseko consists of 3 interlinked first class ski fields - Annupuri, Higashiyama and Grand Hirafu (which includes Hanazono). These 3 adjoining resorts make up Niseko and offer spectacular skiing and boarding at all levels. Lifts are open from 8.30am and you can ski all day and on into the night under lights until 8.45pm.

Official Season

The official season at Niseko runs from late November/early December thru to 1st April and on the 2nd April most of the restaurants close and the locals all head off on annual holidays. However it continues to snow into early spring and the lifts continue to operate until the first week in May. So if you miss out on skiing "in season", why not consider a week in April when you can enjoy sunny days and have the mountain to yourself.
